Important, Accessible, Scriptural.
There is no greater dilemma facing today's Christians than the absence of biblical preaching; and therefore, there is no need more urgent than its recovery. Dr. Steven Lawson, an accomplished author, pastor and Bible preacher himself, has responded to that need by bringing us a magazine dedicated to biblical preaching: Expositor. He has made another contribution to the cause of preaching in this podcast, which delivers thoughtful instruction and practical ideas to ministers pursuing expositional ministry. That makes this podcast, like the periodical it's named after, an important one.Even though Lawson deals with weighty matters and serious questions, he avoids being too technical or lengthy. Yet the episodes remain deep and thorough enough to make the listener think, and even make worldview adjustments. So the podcast is equally accessible to both scholar and student. Finally, the Expositor Podcast is scriptural. Lawson is not a seeker-sensitive pragmatist, offering the latest gimmicks or tricks to get so-called results. Nor is he simply a religious philosopher, looking down on the Bible and guiding his listeners away from the Word toward more "relevant" ideas that engage "felt-needs." He is a man that has full confidence in the preached Word of God, and knows that the only hope men have is its careful and powerful exposition. If you have any interest in the ministry of the Word, these episodes are definitely worth your time.
