Making sense of business behaviors

The Disrupt Yourself podcast offers just what busy people need: interviews with a curated series of business and behavioral thinkers, scholars and practitioners to help us make sense of it all. Whitney’s accessible interview approach - she comes to each podcast as a learner with deep curiosity for the subject - delivers answers to the questions we would ask had we read the guest’s book and prepared as Whitney does. The result is an oft-quoted business podcast you should save to favorites.

Not just for the business world!

I’m so grateful to have found this podcast. It started with a BYU devotional talk, and now I’m reading a second Whitney Johnson book and can’t get enough of the podcast. I’m a homemaker, not an executive, but the principles I learn every time can be applied to parenting, marriage and home life. I hope to translate what I’m learning to make the world a better place! Episode 170 with Molly Beck lit a fire for me to think I could actually create a social platform and make a difference in the world!! Thank you!

Creating amid Constraints

This episode blew me away! Whitney is famous for asking interview questions that really matter...giving the listener deep insights, not just a bunch of ‘how to’s’ and check lists. And her interview with Molly Beck was a stellar example! Molly is the poster child of creating her way out of constraints. I was moved to tears when she told how she forces herself to sprint on a treadmill every night at 6, to help her focus on, and celebrate how hard she consistently tries, which helps her to battle her way through criticism and setbacks. PURE MOTIVATION! I’m so proud of women like Whitney and Molly! Thank you!

The Molly Beck is a must listen for every Creator

Giveaway aside, this was the episode that motivated me to finally review this podcast. I’ve become a fan of Whitney and how she brings m extremely successful guests onto her show and they stay relatable and their advice is reachable to someone just starting the entrepreneur life. I’ve been stuck in launching a podcast for months (have had the equipment and everything) but just can’t find the courage to record and publish. Hearing that now is the time to start because time is running out for new podcasts is a huge motivation to stop procrastinating. How Molly describes an ideal podcast is 100% doable and follows the same pattern of my current favorite podcasts👏🏻 Hearing what I already know confirms its truth!

Molly Beck and Dr. Benjamin Hardy

I originally was introduced to Whitney just over a year ago through the Innovation Ecosystem podcast. That’s when I really started my journey to look critically at myself and my career. I’m fortunate that Whitney’s interview and perspective jumped off the page to me. In fact, she was the only person I started to follow and I’m so thankful I did. She walks-the-walk, is thought provoking and consistently develops content.Today I was catching up on a couple of episodes and listened to Dr. Benjamin Hardy and Molly Beck. What I treasure is that Whitney asks questions with action in mind. Through that lens, she also asks her audience to actionable leave reviews. Sure, there are some promotional give aways which will offer deeper learnings, but I’d argue that it could be more impactful for the reviewers that they are actioning in writing their reviews. How cool is it that a review may be their tipping point to seriously improving? This brings me to who my future self is. I’m wiser, more empathetic, disciplined with urgency, patient in understanding, and self-forgiving. I’m aspirational and I have high expectations of myself. So, that can often translate into being tough on myself and thinking that I should be further ahead.P.S. I sing Disrupt Yourself in song form via Charles Wright’s Express Yourself. Am I the only one?

In my top 3

Whitney is such a skilled interviewer and coach - I learn more from her questions and connections than the guests. I especially enjoyed her I interview with Molly Beck. Molly generously shared tips and feedback in such an approachable way... I have always wanted to have a podcast - to share my thoughts and learnings but it always seems such a big endeavor. But not anymore!

The episode with Molly Beck was absolutely inspiring and has given me so many ideas about how I can be more innovative in my own life, especially in the field of podcasting. Everyone who feels stuck in any part of their life, should check out this episode for ideas!

Dr. Benjamin Hardy

I just listened to this episode today so I may be too late for the contest but I really enjoyed your conversation with Ben. I learned a lot. I also want to support Ben’s goal to sell millions of copies of this book. From my understanding & to create accountability for myself in speaking of my future self I need to redefine my boundaries (which have never been good in relationship to my own health) the idea that my commitment to myself is about my present self & not my future self was very interesting. I will get the book & start journaling to create the future self I want to be—especially 45 pounds lighter). 😉

Priceless content!

Whitney and her team provide the most insightful interviews! Disruption in life is inevitable! Therefore I listen every week sometimes twice to fill my toolbox with strategies to help me ride the waves! I know it may not follow the business model but I would love to hear an occasional interview from lesser known individuals who have disrupted themselves! I truly can’t say thank you enough and since I can’t give you a 6 star rating I guess 5 will have to do! I hope to one day be interviewed by Whitney myself! Thanks againDerek B

Amazing Podcast

I have been listening to the pod cast for about a year and keep intending to leave a review and now I am. All of your episodes and guests are incredible but the most recent episode with Gregory Haile was incredibly moving. Your podcast has reinforced my belief that the best engine for change in society is not politics but business. I am currently looking to disrupt myself and change careers because I want to work for an organization working to be a positive force in the world. Don’t ever doubt what your doing on this podcast is important. Keep doing what you are doing and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you

After taking a break from podcasts while working from home, the best part of resuming my commute was catching up on Disrupt Yourself! I started with Michael Bungay Stanier’s podcast discussing The Advice Trap, and as usual, found myself sharing the link with colleagues. Rather than murmuring once again about living on the island of misfit toys as we wrap up a second year of uncertainty and lack of direction due to new leadership in our school district, I asked Stanier’s timely coaching question, “What is the biggest challenge about this situation for me?” The answer—feeling disconnected and isolated. Just hours later, after a quick hallway conversation, we set a regular time to meet as content directors to share our work and align our combined efforts.

Applicable everywhere

I came across Whitney when a neighbor of hers gave me a copy of her book Building an A team. The book was amazing! I had to have more. Rather then listen to a set work out playlist when I go cycling, I listen to new episodes or old episodes. I always come back from my ride enlightened! The things I learn from Whitney and the people she hosts on her podcast are applicable in my work life, family relationships, in church, at school, and with my friendships. What you learn from this podcast can help every aspect of your life. I can’t recommend this podcast enough!!

Always learning practical tips and feeling inspired

I’m not an active podcast listener but I make a point to check out Whitney’s Disrupt Yourself podcast because she has engaging guests who share practical tips and leave you feeling inspired. Whitney is a thoughtful interviewer who brings out the best in her guests. The only drawback is that I have to keep stopping during my run to take notes!
