Before, in small town America, following the death of her mother to illness, Karen’s life is going nowhere fast. As she tries to balance the expectations of her family with her alternative life with her boyfriend Todd (Will Stout) a day that should have been for celebration leads to a family argument that has a lasting legacy. Blaming Todd for his sister’s predicament, Kevin Page (Jack DiFalco), takes matters into his own hands as he torches his trailer in anger! In the resulting fight Karen shoots Todd to protect her brother and as they both make their escape Karen crashes the car leaving her brother dead and the family broken.
