Episode 42

Episode 42 FYI. Boys that were stranded were not British. Reading is fundamental. Thoroughly enjoy your podcast.

Love the format and variety of genres!

Kaytee and Meredith have great energy and strong bookish feelings! I love the no-spoiler format and the variety of genres and age ranges covered. It is clear they care deeply about being good podcasters and great bookish friends!I am personally using the podcast to get through the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to expand my tbr, triage books in genres beyond what I usually read, and as a substitute for my present lack of bookish friend interactions. My primary suggestion would be to add more books to the episode that aren’t part of the same list again and again. I love how there are always new titles each episode, but there are obviously always titles that come up each episode. I’d like it if there were more backlist titles that are referenced as part of this reoccurring pool, or even just throughout the episode. :)I really wanted to support the show - so I’m writing an honest review and just ordered a tote bag off of Zazzle! Keep up the excellent work ladies! I am enjoying working through the backlog and really love the bookish enthusiasm! <3

Renewed my love of reading

I am a homeschooling mom of 2 and I thought I didn’t really have time to read. But the recommendations here and hearing busy moms reading so many books in a week... wow! I knew I could do it and I am loving getting back into reading. Some of my favorite new reads have come from Currently Reading.

Love this podcast!

I am relatively new listener to this podcast and it’s now a weekly listen to me. I like how Meredith and Kaytee review recent releases but also backlist books and a variety of genres. My favorite thing about the show is the respectful debate about books. Last week’s discussion about Untamed was the perfect example. Keep it up you all!!!!

A TBR exploder

Meredith and Kaytee provide such thoughtful and in-depth book reviews without giving away any spoilers! I inevitably finish each episode with more books on my to-read list. If you’re looking for your next great read, this is the podcast for you!

I just can’t with Kaytee anymore. Her reviews have become asinine and I find myself skipping over them now. The constant giggling is annoying as well.

Reading in the Time of Corona

I look forward to every episode! My reading tastes align more with Meredith (nothing like finding a book soul sister!), but I appreciate Kaytee’s insights and recommendations, as well. It’s great to hear unyielding reviews and to share-in an authentic friendship each week.

Sorry no longer the best

I originally gave this five stars but with the new host I’m constantly rolling my eyes. Too much talk of children’s books. Also she just seems way too goodie goodie. Her voice doesn’t bother me and she seems like a nice person but her book choices rarely interest me. And what a surprise as I’m writing this the book she presses is a children’s book.

My favorite bookish podcast

I’ve tried a lot of bookish podcasts but this is the only one that’s held my attention. The pacing is right and between Kaytee and Meredith there’s always something I want to read next. They make me excited to get into reading again!

5 stars down to 3.5

I loved the podcast when it was just Meredith and Kaytee. My tbr list has been growing with every episode. However, with all due respect, I do agree with so many other reviewers, Mindy’s voice does not seem to be optimal for a podcast and it’s hard to listen to. Unfortunately, I skip to when the other cohosts speak. This is also due to the fact that for some reason Mindy’s reads generally do not spark my interest which is the opposite of Meredith’s and Kaytee’s even though I am not a bookish twin with either of them. Also, when Kaytee and Mindy cohost together there is quite a bit of giggling which again doesn’t translate well to a podcast. I would prefer to have less frequent episodes and just hear the two original cohosts.

LOVE!!

My bookish moment of the week is finding this podcast. Trying out new things during quarantine and found Currently Reading. I have been sneaking away from my family to listen to older episodes. Love the mix of genres and the honest reviews. Great show💙

I Still Love It But...

This was my favorite podcast until they added the third host. Some people just don’t have a good “voice” for radio or podcast and I just can’t do the nasal high pitch voice. I fast forward her because it hurts my ears. There’s way too much gushing and also over explaining. I don’t want to hear that you loved a book because it was “beautiful “. I want clear cut details saying what makes you recommend this book. And please don’t give spoilers or too many details. Meridith and Kaytee has this down to a science. Please go back to just the two of you or pick a different third host. I don’t like being negative just so you know.

Annoying

Kaytee laughs and giggles too much. I enjoy this podcast but have to be in a certain mood to put up with the constant giggles and laughter from the one host.

Great bookish podcast

I don’t miss an episode with Meredith and Kaytee. I love their enthusiasm for books and while I’m no book twin of either, I do find a lot of overlap and love the discussions. I do agree with every press that I’ve read, so I’m adding those I haven’t to my TBR.

Could we hear more about adult fiction?

Last week’s deep dive was all about YA and this week included lots of YA/middle grade as well. I get that lots of people love YA, which is great, but it seems like the podcast is really covering a lot of YA titles lately.

Enjoyable!

Love how these two get thru a ton of books on each episode. They give you the gist without being too wordy. Great variety too! Becoming my fav book podcast.
