Love

I love discussions about cults or cultish groups / ideologies, when they are led by the articulate and empathetic Eric Martin.

Knowledgeable podcaster

It’s pretty clear Erin Martin is well versed in cult mentality. The podcast shows multiple perspectives about both COBU and cult tactics. I really appreciate hearing about this information in my own healing process from a similar Bible based high-control group/cult called the Lord’s Recovery. I grew up in it and my dad was an elder. I never bought it fully and left after high school but when I had a spiritual experience in my late 20’s the indoctrination kicked in and I went back to the church. It took a few years for me to realize just the basic process/practices that had been worked into me from the church. You really do step out of the looking glass and see the world completely differently. I’m grateful to hear this perspective about a cult combined with Christianity and the nuances around that. If you’re looking to heal from an abusive group, hearing all the perspectives offered here will probably hit home. People who have been through this process need info/podcasts exactly like this- have recommended this one to so many people already. Thank you!

Oddly Delightful

This podcast is absolutely fascinating! The first episodes with Erin’s mother are as funny as they are informative. I also enjoyed the later episodes with other former cult members. I absolutely love this pod and it’s format. Great job!

Delicate, but honest conversation

I feel like I’m sitting at a table at a coffee shop with Erin and her guests— the conversations aren’t rigid or scripted. I also appreciate that the discussion is balanced and the guests are able to talk about the good times too. Can’t wait for season 2!! There will be a season 2, right?!

A great listen

This was a great listen and I loved all the interviews. Longer episodes would’ve been better!

Short episodes are confusing and annoying

This podcast is really good..I just don’t understand why she cuts the episodes to 20 minutes. Its so hard to remember what and who was speaking last episode. Just stick make each interview the entire episode length...

Incredible story

Not only is this an incredible and informative conversation- it’s led by a host who truly has a gift for interviewing. Erin’s voice is charming, but it’s her captivating story telling that shines. This conversation will intrigue you, as well as offer questions and insights to a time period in addition to the cult itself. We are hooked! Keep up the great work! Love @2girlsonabench

Too long winded

I think the premise is wonderful and the access is great but Erin gave so much preamble in the intro that I couldn’t do it
