Too many adverts not enough content

I couldn’t listen to another minute of adverts! I kept coming back to this podcast to try again as I like the host and his guests opinions but the amount of adverts drove me CRAZY!!

High quality journalism. I might disagree with the hosts on multiple issues yet still entertaining and informative

Excellent Canadian-Focussed Media Analysis

I love this show and that it’s focussed on Canada. I end up learning a lot about politics, the media, and get a different perspective. I am a supporter on Patreon because I believe in independent media.

I had to unsub

In the beginning I was glad to have found Jessie and his non-big-media take on Canadian politics....but I've noticed myself disliking his podcast more and more over the years. I can only sum it up by saying "he's just so negative". He's also got a pompous streak which is a bit much at times. I won't miss the constant begging for money. It's too much. I will miss the music intro, though, it was fun.

Essential listening for Canadians and curious minds

Some serious journalism happening here. Most stories reported on are illuminating and interesting. With just enough sass and snark, feels like this is how journos talk off the mic over drinks.

Sad

Love the show. I was so sad the hear you guys talking about Nanook of the North. 30+ years ago I was assigned it to read in high school; so many kids didn’t bother so they played the movie. The book was heavy and sad but as someone that grew up in Eastern Ontario it was definitely eye opening. 5 years ago when my daughter was in high school guess what she was assigned? They couldn’t find something more modern? Maybe help a Northern author that could use the sales?

CBC for Millenials

It’s a well produced show. However, like all Canadian liberal sites, Canada-land has help turn out humble Canadian image and approach to subjects, to one of smug entitlement.Like Rebel Media, only left wing.

I’m done

Liked this podcast at first and may miss it but not for long. So very tired of the pleading for donations. Plus whole Jesse calls out other for their slants it’s not hard to see his.

Thoughtful topic choices and guests

Canadaland has exposed me to a wide variety of voices I’d never have heard otherwise and turned me on to new sources of journalism I didn’t know about. The media criticism is good too.

- too many ads- a bit self promoting and arrogant- very much Toronto and Ontario centered- host has a nice voice - rambles a bit too much- good diversity of topics- progressive and liberal but at the same time tries to be objectiveOver all I would listen to it if it wasn't for so many adds. I get it they need to make their living but I just can't handle it.

Not objective

I am smack in the middle re: political views, and thought this was an objective and non-biased podcast. I was wrong.I listened to as many podcasts as I could but it’s very clear that this podcast leans left.My search for a non-biased Canadian podcast continues.

Leans hard into their biases

It’s one thing to be leaning left, but to go hard and then give up objectivity as well... makes it hard to take you seriously. Often valid view points and informative, however if you’re a lefty this will serve your confirmation bias well. If you’re on the right this podcast is helpful for staying out of your echo chamber. If they were a little more honest about their biases the quality would improve. I enjoy the odd episode, but can’t do more than two stars. DS

Too far left

I started listening to CANADALAND podcasts a few months ago with an open mind. It doesn’t take long to figure out it is from a progressive viewpoint. So if you are a progressive and support Trudeau, Singh and May, this is the program for you. I like to think I am an open minded Conservative, with saying that I find CANADALAND is too biased to the left. I do appreciate that they are not bound by business or any government, with that good luck and good bye.
