Microphone Check is an ongoing conversation with the most galvanizing and creative hip-hop artists to ever do it. The in-depth interviews that are the show’s trademark are led by a legendary musician, Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest, and an accomplished journalist, Frannie Kelley, resulting in stimulating and revelatory insights that link the concerns of rappers, producers and behind the scenes players to broad cultural and sociopolitical movements.

Learn from every episode

As someone who works in a more traditional industry, I find that I learn something from every new episode. It’s forces me to think outside of the traditional corporate box. And at the age of 52, these lessons are so valuable. No, we know we don’t know everything.’

Hands Down Best Pod Out!!

Truly grateful for the innumerable gems that Jeff Staple is able to bring out of the exciting and diverse array of guests that this podcast continues to deliver. As an entrepreneur in the arts/music/culture scene, it’s refreshing to listen to insightful interviews of icons (both well-known and mostly behind the scenes) that drop gems applicable to the day-to-day hustle this career commands. Julia Lang, Sean Wotherspoon, Joe Fresh Goods, James Whitner & John Jay episodes are standouts in my book!! Thank you Jeff Staple, and thank you Hypebeast Radio!

Ben Baller Pod led me here

I heard you on the Ben Baller pod and you mentioned he was on your pod so that led me here. Great pod. I love the how you pause and break down what was just said and add your life/business nuggets. The pod has a feel like The NY Times The daily pod with the little music samples. I first heard you on DVDSA....has he ever been on your pod?

Thank you Jeff Staple

Being a young entrepreneur we tend to go through tough times, sales and exposure coming in slow as a start can put those with strong and creativity minds would give up. This is a huge problem for people with talent because the world would never get to see a smart person or an artist work. This Podcast has definitely showed me guidance towards not giving up. No success comes easy, these stories on how people became who they are today, each one of them had a dark start. Huge Fan of Jeff Staple, The love for Nike SB, and love for the culture of skateboarding is huge. Thank you Jeff Staple for the words and finding people tho motivate and guide those who are in this hard market. @Nikesbsales on Instagram.

Loved it. Seriously.

If you’re more interested in the story than the actual finished product like myself, then this is what you’ve been looking for. Fall back on your bed and enjoy with heart and soul the stories of these pop culture icons and really grasp what it takes so that you can inspire yourself and others around you. Highly recommend. Brain food.

Great podcast!!

I’ve listened to quite a few episodes so far and I’ve gotten a lot of value out of each one. It gives you an inside look on the true business of “hype”, which I’m very interested in. Highly recommend if you’re an entrepreneur, sneakerhead, into clothing in general, or just have free time.

A new Staple to my podcast listening!

Jeff has a natural radio voice and is able to intellectually discuss topics without coming off in a bad way. He appears genuinely inquisitive and truly surprised when discovering facts and information about the people he interviews. I enjoy the breakdown reflections between questions because it gives more of a personal feel to Jeff as he helps you process through the answers and the conversation. Someone like Jeff who has been in the game so long adds legitimacy to the show, a perfect choice for host. Would love to see you venture a little outside of the clothing streetwear fashion industry and key in on other topics and people creating products, urban vinyl, artists, design, architecture, etc. Keep up the great work!
