Not what it used to be

I miss when this used to be household name. They don’t have many episodes anymore and a lot of the episodes are about things I’ve never heard of- I loved household name it was so familiar but idk what this podcast is about, it’s entirely different and they should have just created a new podcast instead of changing household name which indicates there are still some similarities- which they’re aren’t. It’s really gone downhill and household name used to be one of my favs.

Amazing!

This podcast is AMAZING! Can’t get enough of it, but I do miss Dan Bobkoff. Wish the episodes come out faster but better quality episodes take longer. But still this podcast is AMAZING

Awesome

So interesting how involved we are with brands and how much they have shaped! Great info, good humor and a good fun light listen. Great intro and soundscape too! Binge-listened to this!

Easy listening that isn’t trash

With the right mix of hilarity and history, this podcast shows you a different side of brands that we all know and love (or hate).

Statistics?

The episode on Amway was very biased. To say Rich DeVos was only successful because he got in early with Nutrilite, was very misleading. If that was the case, everyone that got in before him would be a household name and own professional teams as well. The saddest part of the attack on MLM industry is the statistics for financial success are the same outside of the industry. 98% of people don’t become financially successful selling investments, insurance, real estate, or education for that matter. There’s a trillion dollars in school debt in America yet everyone still sends their kids off to school with no guarantees of success and we’ve yet to call them pyramid schemes.

Why the change??

I miss the old host, the old name, and the old style. It doesn’t have the same charm that got me hooked episode 1 when the show first came out.

Good podcast, bad name.

I like the podcast, but am not a fan of the new name, it is a mouthful. I liked the name Household Name better. You could at least say “Brought to you buy” when you go to commercial, but you usually say “after the break”.

Disappointing changes

No more Dan Bobkov and now it’s a crappy, scripted interview-style show with little history and no real value. The Scouts episode was not even listenable, it was just an anecdote from one of the hosts. I used to be so excited for new episodes and now I’m unsubscribing. I really liked stories about the origins and choices of favorite brands, not pointless and highly scripted interviews that don’t really talk about the actual business or marketing.

Downhill since the rebrand

I miss the old host!! Sure he didn’t have the best radio voice but it was a lot more interesting. The show has lost its charm with the new name and host and the brands/topics are quite boring..

Totally worth it!

This podcast is fascinating. It’s one of the only ones I’ve ever been able to listen to all the way through. There are a million tiny facts that I didn’t know!

Who knew?

I enjoy how business and pop culture intertwine in these podcasts! Interesting how the guitars mirrored their makers and influenced the musicians that played them stylistically.

What happened to the host?

I LOVED this podcast before the “rebrand” and new host. It just isn’t the same now at all. The new host is just meh. I miss the original host :(

Bummed about the name and host change

This was one of my favorite podcasts. I thought the title was clever, and the host was effective with. Unique voice. The new guy sounds like every other typical podcast host. I was not happy to hear about the name and host changing. I’ll reserve judgement and update this review if the quality remains intact, but wanted to express my disappointment with Business Insider in this regard. It’s my favorite site to get news from and I was a supporter of Household Name from day one. I’ve recommended the site and the show to many people in the past. I would strongly suggest keeping the original title at least. It was much better and easier to mention in conversation with other podcast lovers.

Awesome

I’m very interested in brand stories and things that I relate to. This is a great podcast that generally stays away from politically divisive topics, it has a lot of fun, and I always walk away ready to listen to the next one. Can’t wait for more episodes!

Fascinating

This podcast is absolutely fascinating and riveting. I’ve listened to 6 episodes and have yet to find one that I have not enjoyed or one in which I failed to learn something. Congrats to the host and production staff for putting together something that is engaging, well-produced, and great to listen to. Keep me coming.

You lost me

Listened to a great episode about KFC in Japan but then listened to one which featured Bill Nye in which they touted him as a scientist. At that point this podcast lost all credibility for me. I have known him since the 1980s and he is an entertainer NOT a scientist despite how he has fooled journalists with this character he created. Won’t be listening to any more episodes as I won’t know what’s truth or fiction.

Improved my daily conversations!

Randomly stumbled across this podcast and thought I’d give it a try and I’m so glad I did! Witty, funny, and full of factoids, it’s really made me re-evaluate or more deeply appreciate brands in my daily life. I also realized Dunkin’ should get more credit for my fifteen year strong marriage! LOL! It’s definitely improved my daily conversations, and inspired a few light hearted debates!
