Exactly what I’ve needed

I discovered Kate this year and her podcast has made my WFH life and doing my daily chores so much more enjoyable. It’s been great listening to someone who thinks about the same thing that my pop culture-obsessed brain gets hooked on like Tiktok and sweatsuits. I enjoy her levity, thoughtfulness, authenticity, and commitment to her values.

Alternating between laughing and shaking my head yes!

Whether she’s talking about being a bridesmaid, dipping sauces, or call her daddy, Kate, or Beth Ereinfive as some like to call her, always has me agreeing or laughing!

I Feel Understood

I have been an avid listener and lover for about a year, and I also subscribe to Patreon. While I have many great friends and a wonderfully supportive family, until I started listening to this podcast I had never found someone who processes the world quite like I do. It is so, so comforting to be able to listen to someone who thinks, talks, and shares like I do. Every time I listen to an episode I feel validated, understood, and comforted. Thank you, Kate, for capturing a few hours of your real life and your real thoughts every week. I am so grateful to have found you!

Favorite Podcast

I never take the time to write reviews, but I’m so obsessed with this podcast I needed it to be known. For years I thought I was the only person that took deep dives into random pop culture topics - but I am so glad that I found this podcast! I love how long these podcasts are and how fair Kate is in showing both sides of a topic (vs a lot of other podcasts that only tell you their opinion). I also truly appreciate how this is a podcast with a few ads sprinkled in - not ads with a little pod cast.

Love this!

I really enjoy Kate’s long, wandering forays into various pop culture topics! Came for the Mormon mommy bloggers but strong rec for TLW, Britney and bridesmaids too! Excited to keep listening through these! It’s a long- form podcast but that’s one of the things I love most (especially during Covid).

Nuanced deep dives

A friend recommended the Mormon Mommy Blogger episodes and I fell in love with Kate’s deep dives. I relate to the way she obsesses over things and appreciate that she acknowledges nuances and tries to look at all sides of a topic. She is great company on my evening quarantine walks and drives.

FUN!

Fun analytical talk. I don’t follow news closely but she summarizes it and fills in blanks well. Fun time girl time.

Must listen!

Kate is wonderful to listen to on long car trips or at work or while I clean the house, or any time! Her voice is lovey to listen to as well. Her commentary on pop culture is so well thought out and striking unlike I’ve ever heard before. There is literally a topic/episode on here for anyone or any interest!

Love

Love her deep dives. Her podcasts really go into depth but it never feels too long. If anything I wish they were longer.

Final answer: It’s a ‘no’ for me

I go from loving one episode to hating another; there’s no in between. If it’s a topic I’m generally interested in, I throughly enjoy her perspective and interesting way of weaving various topics together (Mormons, bachelorette parties). If it’s a topic I may not know much about, Kate’s unable to get me engaged or interested (Taylor Swift, TikTok). I love her story and always want to support female entrepreneurs but I’m just not interested in this podcast as a whole. Kate can sometimes come across as a pseudo-intellectual with narcissistic undertones.

Love the deep dives!

I love Kate's style, very stream-of-consciousness! She keeps it real and makes sure nothing goes unsaid. Her Taylor Swift deep dives are my favorite!

Nostalgic and witty!

Kate somehow manages to make the most insightful comments about the most seemingly silly things you forgot about or never paid that close of attention to in the first place. Her calls back to the 90s/ early 00s have me remembering so much about growing up during those wild times. And her contemporary analyses and deep dives are not to be missed!

Constructive criticism

Some of her analysis is interesting, but I feel like every topic makes it’s way back to one of Kate’s handful of self-centered tangents, which are getting really old. I feel like her whole personality is 1) unconventional career path/insecurity, 2) sheltered church camp emotional issues, 3) nostalgia/mall/suburbia culture, and 4) Being right about everything. It’s very very repetitive. Even when she has guests (i.e. Heather McMahan) she makes it all about herself and her experiences.. cringeyyy. I truly do enjoy the long form and topics, but the self righteousness and insecurity is really off putting.
