    Stunning!

This episode was masterfully done! Rachel Maddow has always been my favorite journalist but in this podcast she is extraordinary! She is a consummate storyteller. Really draws in the listener and grips them in such a way that renders them incapable of distraction. This was a most compelling revelation that deftly shines a brilliant spotlight on the same political craziness that we are witnessing today. This story deserves a wider distribution at the very least. Perhaps could serve to finally awaken those poor souls who are, sadly, still unable to see the fallacies of their own damaged heroes.

    Lost history

Ask anybody what they know about Spiro Agnew and you get an assortment of vague recollections but no one really remembers (living it or learning about it) specifically what or how he came to resign. This is an extremely important event in our nations history that was almost entirely eclipsed by the events of watergate. Happening parallel to and unrelated to watergate but changes everything. Absolutely griping.

    Bagman Revisited

After long last, I finally got to sit down and listen to this series. To say that this event is eerily similar to contemporary events is an understatement.Down to some of the language and the tactics, VP Agnew pulled the wool over his colleagues’ and his supporters’ heads. Thanks to this happenstance, the OLC memo regarding a sitting president came into existence causing the current state of affairs in which we find ourselves. Good Job, Rachel Maddow and Mike Yarvitz(sp) well done.

    Intelligence and integrity

I’d like to point out to the trump fanatics that have spoiled these reviews with peppered insults.. just because the conversation is above your intelligence level, does not make it fake news. What you see here is the blueprint to trumps entire presidency. He has used every tactic Agnew, bush and Nixon used but with one extreme difference. These prosecutors wether republicans or democrats had integrity. They valued the American rule of law more then the partisan team they played on. Country before party... Mitch and his spineless senate with the help of Barr have took what Agnew did and upped the level of corruption to a higher plane. This was a fascinating, well written, diligently studied podcast.. perfection.

    2016

The TrumpRegime is very much like Nixon with donald himself as Agnew. It’s just about signing stuff, putting his ‘mark’ on something, anything, everything. He doesn’t much care what. The Republican Party has found their ‘enough digits to hold a pen’ guy.

    Fascinating

This was a fascinating retelling of history from my lifetime that I was totally unaware of as a high school sophomore. I hope to find more of these types of historically enlightening stories in the future. Job well done by everyone involved.

Is it possible for an American Vice President to carry out a criminal enterprise inside the White House and have nobody remember? To have one of the most brazen political bribery scandals in American history play out before the country while nobody’s paying attention? In her first original podcast, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow goes back 45 years to dig into a story that got overshadowed in its day. There’s intrigue. Corruption. Envelopes of cash delivered to the White House. It’s a story that’s not well known, but it probably should be. Especially today. Bag Man. A Rachel Maddow podcast from MSNBC. Listen to the Peabody Award-nominated series now.
