Fantastic History Podcast
Great podcast, really enjoyed the whole revolutionary war series. Almost done with the War of 1812 now. Great pace of events and very detailed battles and strategies which is fun to listen too. Really hoping the host comes back to finish the Civil War!

I hope this podcast returns at some point as I find it very good to listen to.
Reviewed on Apple PodcastsGood old listening broadcasts
The American Military History Podcast nostalgically takes me back to my boyhood days when I listened to radio shows like the Lone Ranger and radio broadcast baseball games. Turn off your television and immerse yourself in the battle scenes, strategic manuevers and military topographical situations that are so perfectly described by Justin Johnston. Be prepared to become addicted and support this refreshing way to learn more about American Military History. Rojo322

Be warned, listen to an episode and the next thing you know you will be binge listening to this in no time. A truly rare and brilliant podcast that delves into aspects of American History that you simply can't find elsewhere.

Big fan of the podcast, and love the website maps. I am currently binge listening from the archives. Just finished the battle of Brandywine. Just wish i could look at the maps, etc. from the mobile view, seeing as thats the platform I listen from. Maybe there is and I haven’t figured it out yet. Thanks for the research and time that is spent on the thorough explanations!

Sounds like he is reading something off of the good old interwebs. He has failed to pronounce the name of a single city, or geographical location, correctly. If you don’t already know history, you won’t be able to follow at all. If anyone is actually attempting to learn about the Civil War, there are many other excellent podcasts and resources available to you. Use a resource where you can actually find the places/battles on a map and follow the routes of march.

I just wish I had been listening as the podcast was running.
Reviewed on Apple PodcastsGreat for early episodes, just don’t expect anything new
Ever since he started the Civil War arc, episodes have been few and far between. In 2019, he’s only released one episode and it’s now August. It seems the host has lost interest and is no longer making new episodes.

This podcast has been great, listened up to the Mexican-American war in less than 2 weeks. Thanks, Justin.

I have been looking for a podcast like this one, I am glad I found this great site. I have started with episode 1 and each podcast is great. I suggest any military history buff give this five star site a try.Paul

I applaud your research and delivery, but please, please, please do a little bit more to ensure your pronunciation of locations and people is correct. For example in your Wilson’s Creek episode Cape Girardeau is juh-RAWR-doh, Rolla is RAH-la, and Siegel is SEA-gul. For location names, I would contact a local or state tourism board or chamber of commerce. This is the only thing that detracts from a great podcast.

Justin Johnson is a big fan of American History, and this podcast covers the material in thirty minute to one-hour chunks. This is an enthusiast's study, using some published sources - and occasionally primary excerpts.

Just what I was looking for in a podcast about the revolutionary war. It sounds like he’s reading from student’s graduate school research papers about every battle. Not the theatre of Dan Carlin’s “hardcore history” but a more even tone and pace to the story. 5 stars!
