The history of black travel and fitting in now
I have gotten some good information from this podcast in the past but this particular episode “the history of black travel and fitting in now” was the worst! I am insulted by this whole interview. I thought this would be informative giving listeners and potential travelers guidance on dealing with racism on the site which happens far to often as a host and as a guest. But your aim was to single out black travelers as ignorant to the rules and culture of AirBnB not to inform and educate. Referring to people of color as NUBs and pointing out all of their wrongs and how they need to do better on the AirBnB platform just shows your racial and culture bias and your own sense entitlement. When telling you story about a bad guest that had a party you quickly pointed out “she just so happened to be black!” The mention of ethnicity is inflammatory and divisive. I, to, am a long time AirBnB host and I have had issues from time to time with Caucasian, guests that lack what you call property AirBnB etiquette. Black, white, Hispanic, Indian, Asian whatever! It’s not specific to any one ethnicity. It’s just human behavior. I’ve had bad guest from all walks of life. But I don’t single anyone out because of their race. Let’s all be mindful of our predisposed bias and work towards dismantling them. AB.
