Love this show!
I’ve been meaning to write a review and just heard Joshua is moving on and there will be a new host! Oh NO! But since apparently this show grew out of the great Diane Rehm show, maybe they’ll manage to continue the tradition of superb hosting. The host is the key to a show like this. In the meantime I’ll continue catching up on past shows I missed. They’re fantastic! Why? Joshua investigates important topics with curiosity, intelligence, courtesy, humor, insight, and persistence by interviewing guests who know a lot about the topics. It’s never boring. I’ve learned a lot from this show and it’s really made me think. I’m absolutely astonished that some reviewers think the tone is conservative! Wow, not at all! I’m very liberal but I love this show. I notice that Joshua doesn’t seem to take a side. But I don’t expect him to. I’m happy with the shows because his investigative interviews elicit lots of solid facts from the guests along with their opinions. I always feel my (liberal!) opinion is quite consistent with the facts presented because liberalism is inherently fact-based or at minimum tries hard to be. But he never pushes an opinion nor should he! That’s not his job! This is supposed to be an even-handed news show and it does that task very well. If I thought it pushed MY opinions exclusively, that might be a cozier experience for my mind but it would be less valuable to me. And if it pushed conservative opinions it might as well be Fox and wouldn’t square with the facts. I love this show because it’s grounded in facts, has interesting, well-informed guests, and Joshua doesn’t push his own point of view.
