Good show

I’m a conservative so I don’t agree with most of the Joshua’s views but he talks about interesting things so I like it. Sad to see him go

Not the NPR you think it is

For NPR, you’d think this would be a fair representation of facts, but instead you get partisan propagandists.

Good show but left leaning topics

Sad to hear about Joshua leaving! Show is slightly left leaning, but does offer some other perspectives! Nice to hear from all types of people’s emails and calls from across the country. Judas wish it was more objective topics and journalism. A lot of NPR journalists seems to lean to the left these days, and I come to NPR for the OBJECTIVITY! Bring it back please! But still a good show!

So Sad To Hear About Joshua’s Leaving!

I’m so sad to hear about Joshua leaving 1A!Especially to hear he’s going off to work for MSNBC. Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely a progressive, but I don’t have TV so I can continue to follow his career & he is such a learned joy!

My Favorite

1A quickly became my favorite daily issues podcast. Joshua is respectful and goes out of his way to give both sides (when there are sides) an opportunity to express their thoughts. I appreciate that he’s consistent about informing the audience who was invited to participate when the conversation seems one-sided. I try to emulate his tone and polite way of asking questions that get to the heart of things. I’m going to miss him.

Love this show!

I’ve been meaning to write a review and just heard Joshua is moving on and there will be a new host! Oh NO! But since apparently this show grew out of the great Diane Rehm show, maybe they’ll manage to continue the tradition of superb hosting. The host is the key to a show like this. In the meantime I’ll continue catching up on past shows I missed. They’re fantastic! Why? Joshua investigates important topics with curiosity, intelligence, courtesy, humor, insight, and persistence by interviewing guests who know a lot about the topics. It’s never boring. I’ve learned a lot from this show and it’s really made me think. I’m absolutely astonished that some reviewers think the tone is conservative! Wow, not at all! I’m very liberal but I love this show. I notice that Joshua doesn’t seem to take a side. But I don’t expect him to. I’m happy with the shows because his investigative interviews elicit lots of solid facts from the guests along with their opinions. I always feel my (liberal!) opinion is quite consistent with the facts presented because liberalism is inherently fact-based or at minimum tries hard to be. But he never pushes an opinion nor should he! That’s not his job! This is supposed to be an even-handed news show and it does that task very well. If I thought it pushed MY opinions exclusively, that might be a cozier experience for my mind but it would be less valuable to me. And if it pushed conservative opinions it might as well be Fox and wouldn’t square with the facts. I love this show because it’s grounded in facts, has interesting, well-informed guests, and Joshua doesn’t push his own point of view.

Sounding like Fox News

This podcast is moving decidedly to the right politically. Most of the guests and Joshua are very obviously conservative and slant the news in that direction.

Great topics

I love the topics that 1A covers but I could do without the obvious political bias. They’re not overwhelming with it but it’s very clear. Wish the podcasts were longer but I know this is a radio show as well so that’d be hard. Overall a great podcast and if not for the political bias I would say 5 stars.

Love it!

I’ve been listening to 1a for a few years and still enjoy tuning in multiple times a week. Joshua is a respectful and personable host and the panelists are informative and charismatic. I love the variety of content that doesn’t always revolve around politics; however the political talks are in-depth and have proven to be a reliable news source. One of my favorites!

My main source of info

I really enjoy the conversations . World class content. Not sure how high the bias is, but hosts are pretty rational and fair in their analysis

Guest Speakers

Very informative. However, some of the guests are horrible speakers. Hearing someone say “um-uh” every other word results in me turning the podcast off regardless of the topic.

Informative Show

I work a later shift and 1A is always on during my commute. I like the way issues are approached and topics are chosen. Joshua Johnson is a very adept interviewer. The show covers topics I would not know about otherwise.
